National Assembly adopts resolution on central budget allocation plan for 2022

The 15th National Assembly (NA), on November 13, approved a resolution on the central budget allocation plan for 2022 as part of its ongoing second sitting, with 473 out of 475 legislators voting yes.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 15th NationalAssembly (NA), on November 13, approved a resolution on the central budgetallocation plan for 2022 as part of its ongoing second sitting, with 473 out of475 legislators voting yes.

The resolution states that the totalcentral and local budget revenues are 739.132 trillion VND (over 32.63 billionUSD) and 672.568 trillion VND, respectively.

The total expenditure of the centralbudget is 1,087,032 billion VND, of which 359.982 trillion VNDis earmarked for supplementing the budget balance and the local budget.

Before passing the resolution, the NAheard Chairman of its Finance-Budget Committee Nguyen Phu Cuong presenting areport explaining the revision of the draft resolution on central budgetallocation for 2022 based on received feedback.

Cuong said a large number of commentssuggested increasing the expenditure on health, particularly regarding COVID-19prevention and control, grassroots healthcare, and preventative medicine.

The NA Standing Committee said that although the state budget stillencountered difficulties and the central budget revenue in 2021 is expected to be lower than expectation, the allocation for the health sector, especially on pandemicprevention and control, has always been the top priority.

It is expected that in the centralbudget allocation for 2022, allocation for health care will be much higher than the level in 2021, including about 10 trillionVND to be spent on benefits for those working on the frontline against the pandemic and on purchasing drugs, vaccines, and medicalequipment and supplies.

In order to ensure social security and support the poor andvulnerable people amid pandemic-caused difficulties, the central budgetallocation plan for 2022 will set aside over 89 trillion VND forsocial security expenditure. If including allocations worth 43.293 trillionVND from the local budget for the same purpose, the total state budget allocation for this field makes up some 11.9percent of the total regular expenditure of the state budget./.
