Phnom Penh (VNA) – The organizing board of theNam Ky Khoi Nghia Bike Race has presented the yellow jersey of the second stageof the tournament to Javier Perez from the Vietnam-USA Society English Centers (VUS) and green jersey to LeNguyen Minh from Ho Chi Minh City.

The awarding ceremony of theannual tournament, which runs through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, took place onOctober 23 in Phnom Penh.

Addressing the event,Director of the Phnom Penh Department of Tourism Mom Veasna said that he isexcited as this is the first time Phnom Penh has been included in thetournament’s routes.

Thanks to the sacrifice byVietnamese volunteer soldiers, Cambodian people survived from the Pol Potgenocidal regime and the country was liberated in 1979, he said, adding thatsince then, Cambodia has made comprehensive achievements, including in sports.

This year, the tournament,held by Ho Chi Minh City broadcaster VOH, takes place from October 21-29through eight stages with a total length of nearly 1,000km. The second stagepassed through Cambodian provinces of Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, Kandal, and Phom Penh.

Following the ceremony, thecyclists started the third stage from Phnom Penh through Kandal and KampongCham./.
