Hanoi (VNA)ꦫ – National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong hosted a reception in Hanoi on December 4 for a delegation of the Chinese Association for International Understanding led by its President Ji Bingxuan.

Phuong highlighted the growing Vietnam-China relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties on January 18, 1950, saying that the year 2025 will mark a major milestone as they will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange. He underlined the need for both countries' communities to raise their understanding of building a Vietnam-China Community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. This direction is key to further strengthening the bilateral relations, particularly via enhancing political trust, more substantive national defence-security cooperation, deeper and comprehensive collaboration and a stronger social foundation, in which friendship associations and parliamentary friendship groups of both nations play important roles.
According to the NA Vice Chairman, the two legislatures not only strengthen high-level relations but also between parliamentary committees, NA delegations, municipal and provincial People’s Councils, paving the way for more extensive people-to-people exchanges and diplomacy. In addition to promoting exchanges and sharing experience in lawmaking, supervision and decision-making on key national issues with the Chinese counterpart, Phuong said the Vietnamese NA plans to oversee the implementation of bilateral agreements and international treaties signed by the two countries. This aims to foster further cooperation in economy, trade, investment, science, education, and national defence-security. Expressing his pleasure at China’s successful achievement of its first centenary goals, Phuong was confident in the country's ongoing pursuit of socialism with Chinese characteristics, noting that China’s prosperous development would contribute to peace, stability and development in the region and beyond.
Highlighting the pivotal role of people-to-people exchanges in the bilateral ties, he urged the association to work closely with the Vietnam-China Friendship Parliamentarians Group to increase exchanges between high-ranking delegations, parliamentary agencies, People’s Councils at all levels, localities, young and female lawmakers. Ji, who is also Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress of China, expressed his wish for continued enhancing of comprehensive exchanges at all levels between the two countries, including between the parliaments, the Friendship Parliamentarians’ Groups, and people-elected agencies, in order to share practical experiences in lawmaking and supervision.
