NA Chairwoman to attend APPF 27 in Cambodia

Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will lead aVietnamese high-ranking delegation to attend the 27th Annual Meeting of the Asia-PacificParliamentary Forum (APPF-27) in Siem Reap, Cambodia from January 14-16.

According to a statement by the NationalAssembly’s Committee for External Relations, the trip will be made at theinvitation of Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Samdech Akka Moha PonheaChakrei Heng Samrin who is also President of the APPF-27.

The APPF was established on March 15, 1993, withthe purpose of building trust among parliaments in the Asia-Pacific via theenhancement of dialogues between regional parliamentarians, thus contributingto regional peace, sustainability and prosperity.

The important inter-parliamentary forum gathers27 member parliaments: Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Chile, Colombia,Costa Rica, Ecuador, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, the MarshallIslands, Mexico, Micronesia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, thePhilippines, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, the US, andVietnam.

In the context of deeper globalisation, togetherwith the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, the APPF has affirmedits role as a crucial dialogue and cooperation mechanism among regional nations.
