NA Chairman meets medical staff supporting southern localities

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue chaired a meeting in Hanoi on August 4 with medical staff from centrally-run hospitals supporting southern cities and provinces in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue chaired ameeting in Hanoi on August 4 with medical staff from centrally-run hospitalssupporting southern cities and provinces in the fight against COVID-19pandemic.

At theevent, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chiensaid about 3,000 doctors and healthcare workers from 22 centrally-run hospitalsare preparing to travel to Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces to help withthe effort.

As of July 31, Ho Chi Minh received support from 44 centrally-run, city- and provincial-level hospitals with 2,521 doctors, nurses andtechnicians, and over 5,000 volunteers across the country.

NAChairman Hue thanked the entire medical staff, healthcare workers andvolunteers for their great contributions to not only fighting the pandemic butalso treating patients with other diseases.

Inorder to curb the virus spread, he asked Ho Chi Minh City and southernprovinces to fully follow social distancing rules, uphold the role of residentsin residential areas, considering it a decisive factor to fight the pandemic.

Hesuggested consolidating the treatment system, especially intensive care system,supplying more medical equipment, focusing on treating patients in seriousconditions to minimise deaths, rolling out vaccinations in the quickest manner,and caring for people’s health.

Thetop legislator underscored the importance of continuing to strengthen the socialwelfare system, caring for people’s lives, ensuring the supply of food andnecessities to people, further reinforcing political security, ensuring socialsafety and order, and better performing information and communications work.

TheHealth Minister was assigned to propose more support policies for frontline staffand ensure health safety for them.
