NA adopts revised environmental protection law

The revised Law on Environmental Protection was adopted at the 10th sitting of the 14th National Assembly (NA) on November 17, with 91.91 percent of deputies voting in favour.

Hanoi (VNA) -
The revised Law on Environmental Protection was adopted at the 10thsitting of the 14th National Assembly (NA) on November 17, with 91.91 percentof deputies voting in favour.

With 16 chaptersand 171 articles, the revised law prescribes environmental protectionactivities and the rights and obligations of agencies, organisations, residentcommunities, households, and individuals.

It will takeeffect from January 1, 2022.

Earlier, legislatorsfocused discussions on preliminary reports on environmental protection andagencies authorised to assess such reports.

November 17 was the lastworking day of the 10th sitting of the 14th NA.

In the morning,the legislature held a private meeting to vote on a resolution on piloting the managementand use of land for defence and security purposes in combination withproduction and economic development.

Deputies then hada discussion on a draft law on forces safeguarding security and order at thegrassroots level./.
