Myanmar 's union parliament will convene its special session on May 20 to deal with some emergency issues arising over recent months.

Accordingto an announcement by Myanmar ’s state TV on May 3, the parliamentwas earlier scheduled to hold its next session on June 25 after the 6thsession ended on March 21.

During the March 21 session, six laws were approved and signed by the President.

Theseincluded the bill abrogating the law against opposition and disruptionto systematic peaceful transfer of power and national assembly'sfunction, and the bill amending the constitutional tribunal law andcivil services law.

Eight other bills were also sentto the President for approval, which included the 2013 Myanmarcitizens' investment bill, the 2013- 2014 national planning bill and the2013 budget bill.

The session also approved Myanmarto sign the 1959 Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement ofForeign Arbitral Awards, and to take out official development assistance(ODA) loan from Japan.-VNA
