Illustrative image (Source: AFP/VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Myanmar government on September 11 called on the international community to support its efforts to bring stability, peace and development to the northern Rakhine state.
In a press statement on the situation in the state, Myanmar Foreign Ministry said the latest terrorists' attacks by the extremist Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) are an attempt to undermine the government’s efforts to find a lasting solution to the Rakhine issue.
The security forces have been instructed to adhere strictly to the code of conduct in carrying out security operation, to exercise all due restraint, and to take full measures to avoid collateral damage and the harming of innocent civilians in the course of carrying out their legitimate duty to restore stability, the statement said.
The government also warned that human rights violations and all other acts that impair stability and harmony and undermine the rule of law will be addressed in accordance with strict norms of justice.
The statement stressed that humanitarian assistance will be provided by government-led mechanism, established with Red Cross Movement, to all displaced inhabitants without discrimination, while welcoming the offer of aid programmes from members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as other countries.
Earlier on August 25, extremist terrorists launched fresh attacks on police outposts in Rakhine, forcing local residents to flee to border areas for refuge and camped along the Myanmar side of the border with Bangladesh.
According to the United Nations, around 313,000 Rohingya residents have left Rakhine for Bangladesh.-VNA
