Music video launched to tackle climate change

A music video entitled Rise for Climate was recently launched in HCM City with the participation of artists Thanh Bui, Hoang Bach and many others.

- A musicvideo entitled Rise for Climate was recently launched in HCM City with theparticipation of artists Thanh Bui, Hoang Bach and many others.

The video was co-produced by the Centre ofHands-on Action and Networking for Growth and Environment (Change), 350.orgVietnam and the Soul Music and Performing Arts Academy to celebrate the GlobalDay of Action - Rise for Climate last weekend with the participation ofhundreds of people from over 90 countries.

"Hopefully our song, Rise for Climate,will make an important contribution in raising public awareness about thisissue and engaging all Vietnamese to build a ‘cleaner’ and ‘carbon-free’society," said artist Thanh Bui.

"I feel very strongly about protectingthe environment as it is one of the greatest factors that can affect mychildren’s future. We have already seen the destruction of climate change overthe past few years around the world, and it has also affected Vietnam.

"Vietnam must ‘wake up’ to theimminent threat of climate change, and I take it upon myself as a public figureto take greater responsibility in sharing this message, and I hope that throughthis project, that we can raise awareness of climate change in Vietnam,"said the musician.

The Rise for Climate video carries themessage “Stand up, speak up and take actions to minimise the impact of climatechange on the community, and to do so, clean energy is one of the mostpractical solutions.”

At present, over 800 events have been heldin over 90 countries. RISE Vietnam has been one of the most outstanding eventsaround the world with a wide range of activities and creative events.

"We are proud to represent RISE Vietnam,"said Hoang Thi Minh Hong, Director of Change. "Rise Vietnam’s image isshared widely on social networks by international friends. The Rise for Climatevideo will touch the hearts of Vietnamese and international friends."

Many other activities, including trainingcourses, seminars and flashmobs were held last week in colleges anduniversities in Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and southernprovince of An Giang.

Together with the music video launch,Change and 350.org Vietnam is in collaboration with the Soul Music andPerforming Arts Academy to organise a song cover contest from September 10 to23 with the aim of popularising the song among the public as well as mobilisingmore people for the grassroots climate and energy movement in Vietnam.-VNS/VNA
