The Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) on December 20 launched adrive to encourage the donation of documents and objects to theVietnam Press Museum.
The drive was part of theactivities in a project to collect documents, artifacts and photosconducted by the association.
Addressing the event, VJAPermanent Vice President Ha Minh Hue thanked journalists, individualsand organisations for their donation of valuable objects to the museum.
Hue called on them to make more contributions to thepreservation and development of the traditional values of Vietnam ’srevolutionary press.
Hue further said that themuseum aims to preserve and uphold the traditions of the Vietnamesepress while serving as a venue for journalists to exchange theirprofessional experience.
Objects to be displayed at themuseum reflect the development history of Vietnam ’s revolutionarypress and feature outstanding figures in the domestic and foreign presscircles, he added.
Initiated in 2012, the project to collectdocuments, artifacts and photos is one of the four activities in theVietnam Press Museum Scheme. It has so far collected more than 150objects from 11 journalists and their families.
In July 2013,Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung agreed to add the Vietnam PressMuseum into the master plan of the country’s museum system by 2020.
Construction of the museum is scheduled to begin in early 2014in Hanoi’s Cau Giay district and be completed six months later.-VNA
