Hanoi (VNA) – Many foreign party and state leaders have extended their congratulations to President To Lam after he was elected as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee on August 3.
US President Joe Biden sent a congratulatory message to the Vietnamese leader on August 7, saying nearly one year ago, Vietnam and the US launched their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that marks a new era of strong cooperation between the nations.
“Vice President Harris and I look forward to working with General Secretary Lam to continue advancing this historic progress, which supports a strong, independent, prosperous, and resilient Vietnam,” he added.
Congratulating Lam, Chairman of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola and President of Angola Joao Lourenco said that the election demonstrated the CPV Central Committee’s high evaluation of Lam as a State President with wise and effective leadership, and wholehearted devotion to the nation’s sustainable development and the people’s happiness.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique Daniel Francisco Chapo noted that the CPV Central Committee’s confidence in Lam is a vivid demonstration of his successful completion of previous missions, along with his devotion, mettle, leadership capacity, commitment to consolidating solidarity within the CPV, as well as resolve to lead and direct the whole CPV, people, and military of Vietnam to successfully organise the 14th National Party Congress, ensuring the nation’s stable and strong economic development.
