More funds raised for COVID-19 fight

Firms under the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) had raised 2.36 trillion VND (102.71 million USD) for the COVID-19 vaccine fund as of June 2.

Hanoi (VNA) – Firmsunder the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC)had raised 2.36 trillion VND (102.71 million USD) for the COVID-19 vaccine fundas of June 2.

Major donors included VietnamElectricity, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Vietnam Posts andTelecommunications Group (VNPT), with 400 billion VND each.

Some other businessesunder the CMSC previously offered assistance to the fight against the pandemic viarelevant agencies and localities.

Also on June 2,Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung handed over 2.5 billion VNDto the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to support the fight.

Of the sum, 1 billionVND is for the vaccine fund, while the remainder for the northern provinces ofBac Ninh and Bac Giang – the country’s two major COVID-19 hotspots.

On the same day, theFatherland Front Committee in the central province of Quang Ngai held afundraising event for COVID-19 prevention and control, which received donationsexceeding 31 billion VND from 50 agencies, firms and individuals.

Of note, Vietnam’slargest steelmaker Hoa Phat Group, which is operating its iron and steel productioncomplex in the province’s Dung Quat EconomicZone, donated 20 billion VND./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
