The number of new daily COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in a host of nations across Southeast Asia.

Hanoi (VNA) – The number of new daily COVID-19cases have been on the rise in a host of nations across Southeast Asia.

On July 12, the Lao Ministry of Health confirmed 106COVID-19 infections, consisting of 104 imported cases, mostly in Savannakhet andChampasak, and two domestic cases in Vientiane.

The ministry warned of a high risk of community transmission as the number ofLao workers working in neighbouring countries returning home continues toincrease. To date, the nation has recorded a total of 2,825 COVID-19 cases,including three deaths.

On the same day, 911 cases of COVID-19 and 23 related deaths were added to Cambodia’s count. These brought the total cases toover 61,000 and the death toll 925.

As announced at a press conference attended by representativesof the nation’s health sector on July 12, home care and treatment is permittedfor patients who are asymptomatic or are show mild symptoms. Children aswell are allowed to receive care and treatment at home, reported the local news agency Khmer Times.

Also on July 12, the Philippines posted 5,204 new casesand 100 deaths, pushing up the national tally and death toll to 1,478,061 and26,015, respectively.
         
To date, over 3.5 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against the novelcoronavirus, with the Government eyeing the figure to reach 70 million thisyear.

Indonesia has recorded a daily count of over 30,000 cases since July 6, lifting the total to 2.52 million, with 66,400 fatalities./.
