More condolences to Vietnam over President Quang’s death

Leaders of foreign countries and international organisations have continued to offer condolences over the passing of President Tran Dai Quang to the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam and his bereaved.

Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders of foreigncountries and international organisations have continued to offer condolencesover the passing of President Tran Dai Quang to the Party, State, Governmentand people of Vietnam and his bereaved.

In their condolence message, leaders of theAssociation of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) wrote that: “We share the griefand mourning of President Quang’s family as well as the Government and peopleof the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and offer our deepest and most heartfeltcondolences.

As a highly respected leader who had dedicatedhis life and career to his people, President Quang left Vietnam and our regiona better place. We appreciate President Quang’s contributions to our ASEANfamily.”

Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodinand Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko of Russia sentcondolences to the Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, saying thatPresident Quang is a talented and steadfast leader deserving the great respectand high trust that people and international friends have given to him.

They highly valued his enormous contributions tothe two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership, adding that the brightmemories of the leader will live forever in the hearts of millions of Russians.

President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterteconveyed condolences to Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh while PhilippineForeign Minister Alan Peter Cayetano also sent a similar message to DeputyPrime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

In the letters, they said President Tran DaiQuang is a true friend of the Philippine people and will always be rememberedfor tireless efforts during his whole life to strengthen relations with thePhilippines and other countries in the region.

In his messages respectively sent to ActingPresident Thinh and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, AustralianGovernor-General Peter Cosgrove and Prime Minister Scott Morrison spoke highlyof the huge contributions Tran Dai Quang made in many positions he held,stressing his important role in reinforcing the bilateral relations withAustralia and elevating the countries’ ties to a strategic partnership earlierthis year. 

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued astatement on the passing of President Quang, noting that: “On behalf of theAmerican people, I express my condolences to his family and the people ofVietnam. President Quang was a great friend of the United States.”

“We will not forget his contributions to peace,security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region or his voice for Vietnam tobecome a proud and independent nation on the world stage,” the statement added.

UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay sent acondolence letter to Acting President Thinh, mourning the death of theexemplary leader, who had many important contributions to the promotion ofsustainable development values in Vietnam. She also repeated UNESCO’scommitments to continuing to work closely with the Vietnamese people andGovernment to bolster the cooperation between the organisation and Vietnam.

Myanmar President Win Myint and State CounsellorAung San Suu Kyi also sent condolences to PM Phuc, while Spanish King Felipe VIextended profound condolences to Acting President Thinh and the bereaved.

Leadersof other countries also sent letters and messages of condolences to the leadersof the Vietnamese Party, State and people, and the family of President Tran DaiQuang.

Theyincluded Sultan of Oman Qaboos Bin Said Al Said, President of Uzbekistan ShavkatMirziyoyev, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, President of TajikistanEmomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, PresidentArif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan, Governor-General PatsyReddy and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand, Speaker of theParliament of Iran Ali Ardeshir Larijani, Slovak President Andrej Kiska,President of Ireland Michael Daniel Higgins, and Egyptian President AbdelFattah Al Sisi.

Condolences also came from the leaders of the Communist Party of Peru – RedFatherland, the Communist Party of Uruguay, the Movement of PopularParticipation of Uruguay, the Dominican Revolutionary Party, and theIndia-Vietnam Solidarity Committee.-VNA
