Hanoi (VNA)🐷 – The MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation (MobiFone), the second biggest mobile operator in terms of subscribers, is set to start piloting its 4G and MobiTV services on July 1.

According to the corporation, its subscribers will be offered experience with a wide range of services, such as LTE Broadcast (eMBMS), LTE Unicast, 4K TV, Robot Vehicle and online games, in high-speed 4G networks.
The mobile operator plans to test the service in the three major cities of Hanoi, Da Nang and HCM City. MobiFone Chairman Le Nam Tra said the launch of the new services marks the beginning of a new chapter for the company in which it aims to provide clients with a full package of services. Together with telecommunication services, MobiFone has established a network of retail stores that sell mobile phones and other high-end devices throughout the country since 2015.
It earned 36.9 trillion VND (over 1.65 billion USD) in revenue, getting a profit of 7.4 trillion VND (331.7 million USD) last year. Before MobiFone, Viettel operated 4G services in December last year in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, with an average speed between 40 and 80 Mb/s, though it could reach 230 Mb/s in some spots. Meanwhile, Vinaphone piloted the technology on Phu Quoc Island and in HCM City in January this year.-VNA

Vietnam is actively yet cautiously preparing for the construction of its first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan (now the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa). The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.
