Mexico City(VNA) – Researchers and students from the University of National Autonomy ofMexico said they have admired Vietnam’s renovation achievements and its growingrole in the region and the world.
They joined in arecent talk on Vietnam-Mexico relations held in anticipation of the upcoming 42nd anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties on May 19.
They showed their eagerness to learn more about heroic Vietnam in the fight togain independence in the past and an example in the nation-building today.
They expressed wishes to join hands in stepping up the cooperation andexchanges between people and youngsters of the two countries.
Vietnamese Ambassadorto Mexico Le Linh Lan told them that friendship and cooperation between the twocountries are growing across the board, especially in trade, with growth averaging20 percent a year.
The two countries boast potential for partnership in the manufacturingindustry, agriculture, aquaculture, education and tourism, she said.
Mexico is currently Vietnam’s third largest trader in Latin America afterBrazil and Argentina, while Vietnam is Mexico’s eighth biggest trade partner inAsia-Pacific.
The countries made a trade value of 2.369 billion USD in 2016, rising 17.12percent from 2015. The figure included Vietnam’s export of 1.8 billion USD toMexico, mainly telephones and spare parts, footwear, computer and components,and apparels.
Political and diplomatic ties have been reinforced, evidenced by politicalconsultations, visit exchange, and support at international forums, such asAPEC.
Ambassador Le Linh Lan expressed her hope that Vietnam-hosted APEC 2017 meetingwill increase cooperation among Asian-Pacific member economies, includingMexico and Vietnam.-VNA
