Meta helps Mekong Delta agro-fishery firms in digital economy

Can Tho (VNA) – The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry(VCCI) and Facebook Group (now Meta) held a webinar on December 22 to discuss improvingcompetitiveness of agro-fishery firms in Can Tho’s digital economy.

The event was part of Boost withFacebook programme to assist the Vietnamese firms in the digital economy,attracting over 100 delegates from local authorities and agro-fishery firms inCan Tho and the Mekong Delta.

Deputy Director of the VCCI’s Centrefor Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Tran Thi Thanh Tam saidagro-forestry sector plays its role as a protective net of the whole economyamid the pandemic. However, it is facing new challenges such as climate changeand environment consequences, food safety and origin, limited naturalresources, increasing labour cost and low investment. Therefore, digitaltransformation is expected to help firms promptly adapt to fluctuations andeasily meet customers’ demand.

Participants at the event raisedquestions to speakers about the application of digital technology to restoreproduction and access customers, and sectoral development strategy in the nearfuture.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
