Medipharm 2010 opens in Hanoi

The 17 th Vietnam International Exhibition on Medical Equipment,Pharmaceutical Supplies, Treatments and Rehabilitation (VietnamMedipharm 2010) boasts nearly 350 kiosks displaying pharmaceuticals,medical equipment and hospital services.

During the four-day event, several workshops on the state ofVietnam’s health sector and measures to improve the quality of medicalcheck-ups and treatments as well as the production of drugs and medicalequipment will also be held, along with a series of meetings withhi-tech medical companies.

According to Nguyen Trong Quy, General Director of the VietnamMedical Products Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Vimedimex), thisannual exhibition helps people better understand check-ups andtreatments in Vietnam, so they can avoid going overseas for treatmentwhich can be extremely expensive.

It will also create more opportunities for Vietnamese businesses toaccess the world’s most advanced pharmaceutical equipment and newtechnologies, he added.

Tran Duc Long, the Deputy Head of the Legal Department under theHealth Ministry, said that Vietnam has seen strong developments indrug production and medical equipment manufacturing in recent years andthe country’s capacity to produce drugs has met most of the domesticdemand./.
