Ha Nam (VNA) – Masan Group on February 4 held a groundbreaking ceremony for its meatprocessing complex in the Dong Van 4 Industrial Park, Kim Bang district, thenorthern province of Ha Nam.

Addressing theceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuongwelcomed the large agricultural project of the group, affirming that it willcontribute actively to livestock development.

He requested thelocality to facilitate the group’s project implementation while developing asafe material zone for the project and addressing pollution caused by the livestocksector.

The Minister alsourged the Masan Group to focus its resources so as the project will be onschedule, as well as ensure material supply, processing methods and expandconsumption markets.

According to NguyenDang Quang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Masan Group, the complexwill cost over one trillion VND (44 million USD) and sit on 10 hectares in theIP. It will have an annual capacity of 140,000 tonnes of pork.

The plant will useDanish technology and operate in line with the standards of the US Food andDrugs Administration, Quang said.

Nguyen Xuan Dong,Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee said the project is expected toboost the livestock sector of Ha Nam and the surrounding localities, thuscontributing to ending small-scale slaughters and ensuring food safety.

Ha Nam currently has720,000 pigs. A planning has been made on pig farming in 30 communes, hoping tosupply 500,000 pigs per year for the processing plant by 2025.-VNA
