Marathoners to race in Da Nang

More than 5,000 athletes and tourists will participate in the annual Da Nang International Marathon – one of the biggest sport events in central Vietnam – on August 6, 2017.

DaNang (VNA) - More than 5,000 athletes and tourists willparticipate in the annual Da Nang International Marathon – one of the biggestsport events in central Vietnam – on August 6th, 2017.

Thecity’s people’s committee said the event will offer four categories – fullmarathon (42km), half marathon (21km), a 10km and 5km run.

Thecity said the marathon will prelude the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation(APEC) summit in Da Nang along with events including VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam,the 2017 Da Nang International Fireworks Competition and the 6th Asia GolfTourism Convention.

Lastyear’s race, which drew over 4,000 runners and their families, saw Japanesemarathoners Kentaro Masuda and Kyoko Otsuka win the men’s and women’s titles.

Therace, which was organised by the city, the World Marathon Company and PulseActive, was the first Vietnamese marathon certified by the InternationalAmateur Athletics Association and the Association of International Marathonsand Distance Races.
