Malaysia: Third court hearing on murder of DPRK citizen held

The Sepang district court in Malaysia’s Selangor State held the third hearing on May 30 on the case of the murder of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) citizen Kim Chol.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Sepang district court inMalaysia’s Selangor State held the third hearing on May 30 on the case of the murderof Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) citizen Kim Chol.

The two suspects in the case are Vietnamese national Doan ThiHuong and Indonesian national Siti Aisyah.

The hearing, presided by Judge Harith Sham Mohamed Yasin, lastedfor 25 minutes with the participation of the lawyers of the two suspects, and alawyer assigned by the Embassy of the DPRK in Malaysia.

The court decided to transfer the case to the Shah Alam HighCourt, also in Selangor state.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia sent representatives tothe hearing to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Vietnamesesuspect.

According to the interpreter of Doan Thi Huong at court, Huongis in good health condition.

Kim Chol, as named in his passport, died at Kuala LumpurInternational Airport on February 13. Malaysia said he was poisoned, but theDPRK insisted that he died of a heart attack, plus high blood pressure anddiabetes.

At the court hearing on March 1, the two women were chargedwith murder but they denied and said that they were cheated to take part in aninnocuous prank.

According to the Malaysian law, they would face the deathpenalty if found guilty.

Previously, Doan Van Thanh, father of Doan Thi Huong visitedhis daughter on April 11 in the Kajang prison, Selangor state.

According to Thanh, Huong was in good health. Thestaff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia regularly visited her in prison.-VNA
