Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia's trade surplus hit 26.69 billion MYR (6 billion USD) in March, marking the 35th consecutive month of trade surplus since May 2020 and the highest ever recorded for March, according to the country's ministry of investment, trade and industry ministry (MITI), 

Trade fell slightly by 1.6% to 232.72 billion MYR last month, as exports declined 1.4% to 129.71 billion MYR and imports were lower by 1.8% to 103.01 billion MYR year-on-year (y-o-y).

The ministry said trade, exports, imports and trade surplus recorded double-digit growth of 13.5%, 15.5%, 11.1% and 36.4% respectively compared to February.

Trade also grew by 3.2% year-on-year to 644.87 billion MYR in the first quarter of 2023, while exports increased 2.8% to 354.63 billion MYR and imports expanded by 3.7% to 290.24 billion MYR.

Miti said in March, Malaysia's trade with ASEAN represented 27.9% or 64.84 billion MYR of Malaysia’s total trade, d꧟eclining by 1.4% y-o-y. The figure for the first quarter jumped 4.2% to 176.🌺23 billion MYR./.
