Malaysian senior citizens will be allowed to get their COVID-19 booster shots via walk-in at four integrated vaccination centres in Klang Valley starting on January 19.
Hanoi (VNA) – Malaysian senior citizens will beallowed to get their COVID-19 booster shots via walk-in at four integratedvaccination centres in Klang Valley starting on January 19.
The country’s Health Ministry in a statement said that fourintegrated vaccination centres include those at World Trade Centre in KualaLumpur, Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam, andSokka Gakkai Hall in Klang.
The ministry said booster vaccination coverage for seniorcitizens aged 60 and above in Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpurand Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Penang and Sarawak had exceeded 70percent.
The ministry said booster dose appointments at theintegrated vaccination centres are scheduled for individuals who have receiveda full dose of AstraZeneca or Sinovac vaccines to be inoculated with theAstraZeneca vaccine.
Pfizer booster shots will also be given, especially tocertain individuals such as pregnant women who have received an appointment orindividuals who have contraindications to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
According to the ministry, some 41 percent of Malaysia’sadult population had received booster doses as of January 17. About 97.8percent of Malaysians have been double vaccinated. The country has reportedover 2.8 million COVID-19 infections and 31,809 related deaths./.
