Malaysia showed good performance in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in 2020 despite adverse impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the third series of the SDG Indicators Report released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysia showed good performance in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2020 despite adverse impacts from the C𝓀OVID-19 pandemic, according tothe third series of the SDG Indicators Report released by the 💧Department ofStatistics Malaysia.

In his statementon December 3, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Economic AffairsMustapa Mohamed said out of the 146 indicators, 49 (34percent) improved, 34 (23 percent) did not change and 41 (28 percent)decreased. The remaining 22 (15 percent) were non-statistical indicators. He said among the indicators that recorded an improvement were airand water quality, reduced criminal cases, Internet use, andincreasing number of women in management positions. Indicators that declined due to the pandemic include theannual growth rate of gross domestic product per capita, the number ofpassengers at airports, and the rates of absolute poverty andunemployment. He stressed that Malaysia has made significant progress inmainstream SDG funding in national development planning./.
