Makeover planned for capital city

Hanoi’s Culture and Sport Department has started a programme to freshen up the appearance of the capital city, especially during major holidays and celebrations.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi’s Culture and Sport Department hasstarted a programme to freshen up the appearance of the capital city,especially during major holidays and celebrations.

The city is looking for designs for green areas, lighting systems and pavementsfor landmarks including Hoan Kiem Lake, the roundabout in front of the StateBank of Vietnam, the city’s bridges and National Convention Centre as well asseveral of the city’s main streets.

The programme will accept designs in two phases: from March 26-30 and from August28-30. One of this year’s main themes is “Hanoi for integration anddevelopment”.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
