Legislatures of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam prepare for high-level meetings

Hanoi (VNA)꧃ – Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for ExternalRelations Vu Hai Ha on November 8 chaired an online meeting with the ForeignAffairs Committees of the Lao and Cambodian legislatures to discusspreparations for the first high-level conference of the NAs of Cambodia, Laosand Vietnam slated for December.
They discussed the procedures, scheduled agendaand activities of the conference, including the opening and closing ceremonies, andtwo plenary sessions. Accordingly, the conference will be hosted bythe Lao NA in Vientiane.
𓄧 Scheduled discussions willfeature the topics of enhancing the role of the three legislatures in promotingparliamentary cooperation to create economic connectivity between Cambodia,Laos and Vietnam toward sustainable development, bolstering thesupervisory role of the three NAs in national defence and security for the sakeof peace and stability.
Delegates alsooffered their opinions on holding a friendly cycling race as a means to foster exchanges,friendship and closer bonds among participants.

According to thejoint statement signed by the three top legislators on November 20, 2022 inPhnom Penh, Cambodia, the conference is aimed at consolidating relations, with a focus on socio-economicdevelopment, national defence and security cooperation, and people-to-peopleexchanges for sustainable development of the three countries and the region. The event will beheld biennially, with the top legislators taking turns to preside over andco-chair based on a rotating alphabetical order./.
Vietnam always gives the highest priority to consolidating and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos, including the traditonal cooperative ties between their legislatures, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly and President of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Parliamentarians Group Tran Thanh Man affirmed on July 19.
A workshop to share experience between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the Cambodian parliament took place in the central city of Da Nang on December 25.
