Legal framework built for aquatic resources reproduction fund

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Danish International Development Agency held a workshop in Hanoi on April 3 to review the building of a legal framework for the operation of the Fund for Aquatic Resources Reproduction (VIFARR).

Thefund was set up in 2007 under the Prime Minister’s Decision29/2007/QD-TTg but has yet to begin operation pending a legal framework.

A project is now under way since August 2014 to build the legal framework with funding from the Danish Government.

The project, which is to end in June this year, is also expected toassist with the building of a decree on the utilisation and managementof financial sources in the field.

Participantsevaluated the surveys on fishery activities of organisations andindividuals with a view to suggest the levels of financial contributionsby stakeholders to the fund. Two surveys have been conducted in KienGiang and Phu Yen provinces involving tuna fishing, lobster farming andsea fishing.

They also made suggestions on regulations for the fund’s operations.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
