Lawmakers debate revisions to Law on Credit Institutions

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputies of the 14th National Assembly onOctober 26 debated the draft bill on amendments and supplements to somearticles of the Law on Credit Institutions.

The discussion focused on the principle of placing credit institutionson special control, the plans of compulsory transfer, restructuring ofinstitutions and commercial banks subject to special monitoring.

The deputies debated the structure, authority and tasks of the Committeefor special monitoring of the institutions, as well as the mission and power ofthe State Bank of Vietnam to credit institutions placed under special watch.

They also gave ideas on the unity of the bill to some articles of theConstitution and other relevant laws.

At the same time, the lawmakers gave opinions to a report verifying thebill on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on OverseasRepresentative Mission of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Earlier, with the majority of ‘yes’ votes, the deputies approved the appointmentof Nguyen Van The as Minister of Transport and Le Minh Khai as GovernmentInspector General by secret ballot. They also adopted the resolution on theapproval of the Prime Minister’s proposal on the appointments.

On October 27, the deputies are scheduled to debate the verificationreport on the feasibility study of the project on land retrieval, compensation,support and re-settlement for Long Thanh international airport, and discuss ingroup the revised Competition Law.

They will also discuss some contents of the revised Law onFisheries.-VNA
