Lao provinces join hands with Vietnam to fight COVID-19

Many Lao provinces have joined hands with the Vietnamese Government and people in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Vientiane (VNA) – Many Lao provinces have joined hands with the VietnameseGovernment and people in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

On June 12,representatives from Phongsaly province's authorities arrived at the VietnameseConsulate General in Luang Prabang to present about 15,900 USD in support ofVietnam’s northern provinces of Lai Chau, Son La, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, TuyenGiang and Thai Nguyen.

Earlier on June 11, representativesfrom Luang Namtha provincial authorities granted nearly 31,900 USD to theConsulate General to assist the northern provinces of Dien Bien, Son La, PhuTho and Vinh Phuc.

Speaking at the event,the Lao side affirmed great friendship with Vietnam and wished that theVietnamese localities would soon curb the virus spread and overcome difficultiesto restore production and trade for socio-economic development.

Vietnamese ConsulGeneral in Luang Prabang Nguyen Dang Hung hailed the deed as a vividmanifestation of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensivepartnership between the two countries.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.

✃ Tour boats in Ha Long Bay to complete AIS installation by August 15
