Lao province assists HCM City in COVID-19 combat

HCM City (VNA) – The Lao province of Attapeu has presented 100 million LAK (8,200USD) to aid Ho Chi Minh City in the COVID-19 combat.

Lao Consul General in HCM City Phimpha Keomixay on October 28 handedover the donation to Chairwoman of the city's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee To ThiBich Chau.

At the hand-over ceremony, Chau thanked the wholeheartedsupport of the Lao province, saying it demonstrates the great friendship, specialsolidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

She said over the past time, Vietnamese and Laoleaders have exchanged regards and supported each other in pandemicprevention and control.

HCM City is working together with Lao localities toimplement cooperation activities, thus bringing practical benefits to peopleof both nations, and helping to consolidate and enhance the bilateralrelations.

For her part, Phimpha thanked HCM City for itsassistance to Lao localities in the cause of national construction anddevelopment, as well as in the pandemic fight. The city has also supportedLao citizens living, studying and working there.

The diplomat expressed her hope that Vietnam andHCM City in particular will soon control the pandemic, andcontinue socio-economic development activities in the new normal.

She also suggested further implementing cooperationprogrammes within the framework of signed agreements, including the pact oncollaboration between HCM City and the Lao capital city of Vientiane for2021-2025./.
