Lao PM offers sympathies on flood losses in northern Vietnam
Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith on August 11 sent sympathies to his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc over heavy human and property losses caused by recent floods triggered by prolonged rains in the north of Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) – Lao Prime Minister ThonglounSisoulith on August 11 sent sympathies to his Vietnamese counterpart NguyenXuan Phuc over heavy human and property losses caused by recent floodstriggered by prolonged rains in the north of Vietnam.
“I am very sad and worried upon learning about prolongeddownpours and flash floods causing widespread flooding and landslides, resultingin human and property losses for the people and infrastructure damage innorthern provinces of Vietnam, especially Dien Bien, Son La and Yen Bai,” theLao PM wrote in the message.
On behalf of the Lao Party, Government andpeople, he offered sympathies to PM Phuc and the Party, the Government andpeople of Vietnam, particularly the administrations of the flood-hit localitiesand affected families.
Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith voiced hisbelief that under the leadership of the Vietnamese Party and Government, peoplein the flood-hit areas will overcome difficulties and soon stabilise theirlife.-VNA
The Party Central Committee’s Office on August 8 raised 421 million VND (18,519 USD) to support locals in northern mountainous localities that have been hit by torrential rains and floods.
The ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) has supported flood-hit localities in the northern mountainous region of Vietnam with home supplies worth 230,000 USD.
