Lao NA Vice Chairman visits Thanh Hoa

Thanh Hoa (VNA) 🍸– Lao National Assembly Vice Chairman Somphan Phengkhammy led a delegation to visit the central province of Thanh Hoa on August 17 with a view to learning about the organisation and operation of the provincial People’s Council and National Assembly (NA) deputy delegation.

At a working session with representatives from the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council and NA deputy delegation, Somphan Phengkhammy said this is a good chance to increase Vietnam-Laos comprehensive cooperation, and links between Thanh Hoa and the n orthern Lao province of Houaphan in particular.
Do Trong Hung, Vice Secretary of the Thanh Hoa provincial Party Committee briefed the Lao guests on the organisation and activities of the locality’s People’s Council, which is organised at provincial, district and communal levels, including the People’s Council Standing Committee and sub-committees. Hung said the provincial People’s Council in the 17th tenure from 2016-2021 includes 95 members. The agency has implemented resolutions of the provincial Party Committee and the People’s Council in mapping out plans and implementing supervisions.
Supervision by the provincial People’s Council has contributed to stablising socio-economic development, ensuring security and defence and social order, and strengthening the socialist legislation, Hung added. With 16 members, the Thanh Hoa province’s NA deputy deputation is one of the three largest delegations in the country, Hung said, adding that it has actively joined in law-making and supervision in the NA. During the working session, the two sides also discussed issues concerning the results of cooperation between Thanh Hoa and Houaphan in 2011-2016, and put fourth orientations and measures to further foster and effectuate connections between the two localities.-VNA
