Lao leader thanks Vietnam for support in COVID-19 fight

Hanoi (VNA) – Lao Party General Secretary andState President Thongloun Sisoulith has thanked Vietnamese leaders for theirmessages of sympathies over the COVID-19 situation in Laos.
In a thank-you letter to Party General Secretary NguyenPhu Trong and State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Thongloun Sisoulith said the Vietnameseleaders’ messages have vividly demonstrated the great friendship, specialsolidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The Lao leader also highlighted Vietnam’s valuable,timely and effective support to Laos in personnel, medical supplies andmedicines, saying the assistance has significantly contributed to the pandemicfight in his country.
“We always keep a close watch on the COVID-19situation in Vietnam, and highly value the measures taken by the VietnameseParty and government to contain the pandemic,” he said.
Vietnam is one of the countries that have reaped greatsuccesses in COVID-19 prevention and control which have been lauded by theinternational community, the Lao leader continued.
“We believe that under the leadership of the CommunityParty of Vietnam and with the great national unity bloc, Vietnam will beat COVID-19,”he said, pledging that Laos will closely cooperate with Vietnam to win over thepandemic./.
Hanoi has recently recommended the Government direct competent ministries and sectors to timely issue guidance on meting out punishment to violations of COVID-19 prevention rules in the capital city amidst the new COVID-19 resurgence.
Vietnam is expected to make breakthroughs in exporting aquatic products in the coming time thanks to its good performance of biological safety, and benefits brought by free trade agreements (FTAs), according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long has asked agencies and localities nationwide to immediately make plans to carry out the third phase of COVID-19 vaccination on greater scale compared to the previous phases.
