Hanoi (VNA) – The PrimeMinister has approved a task💖 on planning the development of Lao Cai border gateeconomic zone in the northern province of Lao Cai to 2040 with a vision to2050.

The proposed border gate economiczone will cover the districts of BatXat, Bao Thang, Muong Khuong and Si Ma Cai and Lao Cai city on 15,929 hectares. It is expected to become a keyeconomic area of the locality, promoting trade, industry and servicedevelopment and improving locals’ living standard while protecting the naturalecosystem and consolidating national defence. It is also hoped to serve as a multidisciplinaryeconomic zone, a development pole of the northern midland and mountainous areaand a trade hub of the area of ASEAN and the southwest of China. - VNA
