Lang Son destroys counterfeit goods

Over 1.3 billion VND (55,859 USD) worth of fake batteries, packaging materials, labels bearing Toshiba and Maxell brands along with a battery production chain were destroyed in Lang Son on August 7.

Lang Son (VNA) – Over 1.3 billion VND (55,859 USD)worth of fake batteries, packaging materials, labels bearing Toshiba and Maxellbrands along with a battery production chain were destroyed in the northernmountainous province of Lang Son on August 7.

There were more than 250,000 pairs of fake Toshiba batteriesand 13,300 pairs of fake Maxell batteries.

A team from the Lang Son Market Surveillance Department incollaboration with the local police seized the counterfeit products on April 9,when inspecting the battery workshop of the Hoa Viet JSC at No 100 Ngo QuyenStreet, Dong Kinh ward, Lang Son City.

At the inspection, the company was caught red handedproducing fake goods bearing the two Japanese brands.

Owners of the company and people involved admitted they madethe batteries for profit.

The provincial investigation police department begancriminal proceedings against the case on June 22.-VNA
