Theforest coverage surged from 27.8 percent in 1990 to 39.5 percent in 2010 and41.19 percent in 2016.
From2006-2016, forest coverage expanded by more than 1.5 million ha, or 150,000 haper year.
DeputyMinister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan asked localities tomonitor the use and management of forest and forestry land, rally resources forthe effort, and thoroughly deal with violations.
Asof the late 2016, up to 11,258,730 hectares, or nearly 78 percent of forestcoverage nationwide, were allocated to the management boards forspecial-purpose and protection forests; State, non-State and foreignbusinesses; households and individuals; armed forces and other units while theremaining were under the close watch of the communal People’s Committees.
Thetotal forest and forestry land coverage for rent has so far amounted to160,917ha.
Upto 37 provinces with 11,525 ethnic minority communities, or 90 percent of thetotal, have been granted access to land and forests, while 279,305 ethnichouseholds have been allotted 703,951ha.-VNA
The national forest inventory project will be carried out across the country from June 1, 2013 to December 31, 2016 , according to the Office of Government.
