Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Authorities of Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur began implementing solutions to resolve the worsening traffic congestion in the city.
One of those is to cut half of the ticket prices for those who use public transport services such as urban railway and buses from 6am to 7 am.
Chairman and CEO of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd Azmi Abdul Aziz said the reduced ticket price is applied from Monday to Friday, adding the move aims to encourage people to leave their houses early to reduce traffic congestion that often takes place after 7 am.
Kuala Lumpur currently has a population of more than six million people with 500,000 new vehicles joining the roads each year, making the traffic in the city worsen.
The city is also considering increas🌜ing parking fees as a way of easing the situation.-VNA
