Korean percussionist to perform in HCM City

HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Korean percussionist Gina Hyungi Lee will perform at theconcert "Go by Gina Hyungi Lee" at Soul Live Project Complex inHo Chi Minh City on August 17.

Lee will perform masterpieces by Bach andPiazzolla with marimba and snare drum.

She will play contemporary pieces of the last 20years, as well as Korean and Vietnamese traditional songs.

The musician will also perform using body partsand instruments from kitchens.

Born in 1996, Lee studied at the Purcell Schoolof Music in the UK, and then learned marimba with Daniella Ganeva andorchestral percussion with David Hockings, both of whom are lecturers at theRoyal College of Music in the UK.

She was awarded the first prize at the SeoulUniversity National Competition, the Guildhall and Trinity Hall MarimbaCompetition and the Fermo International Percussion Competition in Italy at theage of 13, and several top prizes at other competitions.

Lee twice won the Royal College of Music’sPercussion Competition in 2016 and 2017.

She has performed at prestigious venues in theUK, including Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Royal Albert Hall and Royal OperaHouse.
