Kien Giang’s industrial production value rises over 7 percent in five months

Kien Giang (VNA) – The industrialproduction value of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang reached over 20.4 trillionVND in the last five months, up 7.4 percent from the same period last year.

According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, sectors seeing stable growth in are beer, shoes and leather, ready-to-wear clothes, frozen shrimp, canned fish, cement, commercial electricity, and unburnt bricks.

Notably, theprovince's export turnover in January-May totalled about 317 million USD, up nearly 16 percent year-on-year. It has helpedrevitalise other industries of the locality.

In the reviewed period, 625 new businesses were established, up 28percent compared to the same period last year.

The department said that the complicateddevelopments of the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected productionand business activities of local enterprises.

It has taken a series of comprehensivesolutions to complete the dual goal of COVID-19 containment and economicdevelopment, especially in industrial parks.

Many businesses have had appropriate businesssolutions to adapt to the pandemic situation and promptly implement supplycontracts, it noted.

The local industry and trade sector has kept close watch on thedevelopments of the pandemic, thus outlining measures to remove difficulties facinglocal businesses and guiding them to build scenarios to respond to the pandemic.

The local authorities have paid attention to promoting administrative reform tofacilitate investors’ operation, while accelerating the construction of essential infrastructurefacilities in industrial parks and cluster in order to call for more investmentinto the province./.
