Kazakhstan named champions at women’s beach volleyball tourney

Kazakhstan was crowned the champions of the Asian Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship after defeating Thailand 2-0 on May 1.

Can Tho (VNA) – Kazakhstan was crowned the champions of the Asian Women’sBeach Volleyball Championship after defeating Thailand 2-0 on May 1.

As the winners, Nikitina Tatyana and Samalikova Bakhtygul from Kazakhstan wereawarded 3,000 USD while Thai duo received 2,250 USD.

Other team from Thailand came third of the tourney with a 2-1 win over Vanuatu.

The tournament drew 20 teams from 11 countries and territories such asAustralia, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Japan, New Zealand,Singapore, Thailand, China, Vanuatu and Vietnam.

They were divided into four groups and competed in a round-robin format.

The tourney’s total prize was worth 15,000 USD.

According to the Vietnam Sports Administration (VSA), the event, jointly heldby the VSA and Can Tho province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism,aimed to enhance athletes’ professional skills and create opportunities forthem to exchange competing experience.-VNA
