Japanese-based Dai-ichi Life Insurance company has channeled 5.4 billion JPY (50 million USD) into infrastructure development projects in the Mekong region, including Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar.
Tokyo (VNA) – Japanese-based Dai-ichi Life Insurancecompany has channeled 5.4 billion JPY (50 million USD) into infrastructuredevelopment projects in the Mekong region, including Vietnam, Cambodia, andMyanmar.
The investment has been done via its purchase of sociallyresponsible Mekong region development bonds issued by the Export-Import Bank ofIndia (Exim Bank) on October 17. The 3-year bonds have a fixed coupon of 2.385percent per annum.
Funds raised through the bonds will be allocated for the buildingof a hydropower plant in Vietnam, a power transmission system in Cambodia, andrailway infrastructure in Myanmar, among other projects.
Dai-ichi Life said the investment brings back profits to thecompany and supports emerging markets.
The firm is operating in the insurance sector in Vietnam,Thailand and Cambodia while expanding its activities as a capital fundingorganization for the region./.
