Japan, Myanmar agree to cooperate in solving ethnic conflicts
Japan’s Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi have agreed to cooperate in efforts to end ethnic conflicts in Myanmar.

Tokyo (VNA)🐠 – Japan’s Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi have agreed to cooperate in efforts to end ethnic conflicts in Myanmar.
Mentioning recent bloody attacks carried out by insurgents at border stations in Myanmar’s Rakhine state, Minister Kishida said that any form of violence should not be tolerated. He also welcomed efforts for peace and stability in Rakhine.
On his part, Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said the situation in Rakhine State is extremely delicate and needed to be handled in a careful way. She affirmed the Myanmar government is dealing with problems in accordance with the law.
She said that Japan’s assistance will not only help transport people in the state but also contribute to the state’s development.
Minister Kishida welcomed Myanmar’s ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty ( CTBT ) in September and agreed with Suu Kyi on working for the treaty to take effect early.
One day earlier, Suu Kyi met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who pledged to provide 7.73 billion USD in loans for Myanmar in the next five years to help the country achieve peace and develop the economy.
The five-day tour of Japan is the latest in a series of Aung San Suu Kyi’s foreign visits to promote Myanmar as a destination for investors. Earlier, she visited China, the United States and India.-VNA
