Int’l conference promotes sea-island tourism development
Tapping huge potential of sea and island tourism coupled with preserving natural landscapes was discussed at an international conference jointly held by Ton Duc Thang University and the National Penghu University of Science and Technology, Taiwan (China) on August 1.

HCMCity (VNA) – Tapping huge potential of sea and island tourism coupledwith preserving natural landscapes was discussed at an international conferencejointly held by Ton Duc Thang University and the National Penghu University ofScience and Technology, Taiwan (China) on August 1.
The event drew the participation of over 40 researchers, lecturers as well astourism students from Australia, Austria, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, the UK and theUS.
Experience in sea tourism model development as well as education activities on environmentalprotection were shared at the conference. Some researchers also analysedimpacts of tourism development on the socio-economy and local livelihoods whilehighlighting public efforts to develop tourism sustainably.
Speakingat the event, Tran Trong Dao, Vice Rector of Ton Duc Thang University,underlined that Vietnam boasts huge potential for sea tourism development,however, unprofessional investment in human resources and shortage ofhighly-competitive tourism products have hampered the development.
Meanwhile, Chun-Chieh Hu from the National Penghu University of Science andTechnology said that sea tourism development strategies are built based onscientific research evaluating the influence of technology on naturalenvironment and local residents.
Other participants also agreed that enhancing quality of high-ranking tourismmanagers plays a key role in developing sea-island tourism in line with globaltrend.-VNA
The southern coastal province of Kien Giang has outstanding advantages for marine tourism compared to other south-western localities, and it is working to turn its Hon Son Island, considered a masterpiece of the nature, into a tourist magnet.
Work started on May 14 on the first phase of a big ecological tourism complex on Cat Ba Islands in the northern port city of Hai Phong, which is projected to be Vietnam’s first carbon-free tourism area.

By source market, China continued to lead with 3.1 million visitors, equivalent to 25.5% of all foreign arrivals. The Republic of Korea followed with 2.5 million, or 20.7%. Other major markets included Taiwan (China) with 737,000, the US with 522,000, and Japan with 380,000.
Khanh Hoa has welcomed 16 international cruises so far this year, with more than 19,000 tourists disembarking to explore the province’s scenic landscapes and renowned cultural, religious, and artistic landmarks, as well as to enjoy local cuisine and sightseeing tours.

Dubbed the “land of ancient towers”, Khanh Hoa boasts a rich Cham legacy through architectural masterpieces like the Po Nagar, Hoa Lai, Po Klong Garai, and Po Rome towers.
Vietnam’s e-visa system is now seen as one of the most efficient, convenient, and transparent in the region.
