Injured Croatian sailor rescued off Hai Phong city

The Marine Search and Rescue Coordination Centre in the northern port city of Hai Phong on September 1 successfully carried out emergency medical aid for a Croatian sailor injured at sea.

Hai Phong (VNA) – The Marine Search and Rescue Coordination Centre in thenorthern port city of Hai Phong on September 1 successfully carried out emergencymedical aid for a Croatian sailor injured at sea.

MagdalenicIvica, born in 1987, suffered serious injuries while working on board of acargo ship of Mashall Islands which sailed through Vietnam’s territorial waters.

When the sailormet with the accident, the ship was 84 nautical miles to the East-Southeast ofHai Phong city.

After receivinga call for help from the vessel, the centre immediately sent a rescue ship tothe scene. Meanwhile, the Ante Topic ship was requested to head to Hai Phong atits maximum speed.

At 15:00, theinjured sailor was brought ashore and rushed to a local hospital. He survivedthe critical phase and improved gradually.

The centre willwork with the Consular Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and theCroatia Embassy in Vietnam to prepare necessary procedures for the sailor toreturn home after he recovers his health.-VNA
