An Indonesia woman convicted of drug smuggling was sentenced to life imprisonment by the People's Court of Hanoi on May 7.
Triwening Puji Astuti, 28, a babysitter, was accused of smuggling drugs from Malaysia to Hanoi in Vietnam.
In September last year, she smuggled 5kg of drugs to Hanoi by hidingit in six comic books in a suitcase. She was arrested while waiting for adrug receiver.
During her interrogation, Triweningadmitted to the crime, stating that her poor financial condition hadforced her into drug smuggling. One of her friends introduced her to asmuggler and soon she started helping him carry drugs to many countries.
For every successful shipment, she received 2,000 USD.
She also admitted that she had thrice transported drugs to Hong Kong.-VNA
