Jakarta (VNA) – IndonesianMilitary Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo on June 13 rev🐭ealed that the self-styledIslamic State (IS) is present in almost every province in the country.

Speaking with reporters in thecapital city of Jakarta, Nurmantyo affirmed that IS operates in Indonesia asclandestine "sleeper cells”, but he warned that they could launch attacksat any time. Thegeneral also said that militant groups affiliated with IS are also active inthe country. Thereis also a possibility that IS-linked militants fighting in Marawi city in thesouthern Philippines will come to Indonesia and unite with their terroristfellows here, he said.

The same day, an Indonesian police spokesman confirmedthat police seized a shipment of 500 explosive detonators. The operation tookplace at the main airport of South Sulawesi province.

According to investigation, the consignment was boundfor Borneo Island.

The police will investigate to find out the purpose ofthe shipment of detonators, the spokesmanﷺ said.

The incident occurred with Indonesian securityauthorities on alert for attacks from militants, particularly those linked withIS.  Indonesia firstwitnessed an IS attack last year in Jakarta, killing four people.-VNA
