Hanoi (VN) - Indonesia’s Lewotobi Laki Laki volcano on Flores island erupted again on July 7 after weeks of dormancy, ♓sending an ash column as high as 18km and blanketing nearby villages.

According to Indonesia’s Geological Agency, the eruption occurred at 11:05 am (Indonesia time). No casualties have been reported so far.
Authorities raised the alert level, urging residents to stay at least 6km away and wear masks. They also warned of potential volcanic mudflows if heavy rain occurs, especially in communities near rivers. Last month, several flights to and from Bali were cancelled due to volcanic activity. A previous eruption in November 2024 killed nine people and disrupted numerous international flights. Indonesia, home to 270 million people, sits along the Pacific "Ring of Fire" and has 120 active volcanoes./.
