Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesianpolice destroyed an illegal drug ring and seized 288kg of crystal methamphetaminein the capital city of Jakarta on January 30.
Speaking at a press conference at thescene, Jakarta Police Chief Insp. General Nana Sudjana said three suspects werekilled in a shootout at a toll road in West Jakarta.
Sudjana added that the drugs, valued up to864 billion rupiah (63 million USD), was hidden in hundreds of plastic meal boxes.The haul was being transported from Merak port in Indonesia’s Banten provinceto Jakarta.
It is one of the largest drug traffickingcases discovered in Indonesia. One month earlier, Indonesian police confiscated210kg of crystal meth en route from Sumatra island to Jakarta./.
