Indonesia readies plans to anticipate tourist surge during long festival
Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno on March 27 revealed that the ministry has readied several plans and increased coordination with regional governments to anticipate a potential surge in the number of tourists during this year's Eid al-Fitr holiday period.

Jakarta (VNA) 𒆙- Indonesian Tourism andCreative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno on March 27 revealed that theministry has readied several plans and increased coordination with regionalgovernments to anticipate a potential surge in the number of tourists duringthis year's Eid al-Fitr holiday period.
He said the ministry will carry out simulationsso that ahead of the festival, the procedures will have been prepared, such ascrowd control and the flow of visitors and others.
This year's Eid al-Fitr will be thefirst long holiday after the COVID-19 pandemic and the revocation of the publicactivity restrictions (PPKM) in December 2022. Therefore, Uno predicted, thenumber of tourists will surge during the holiday.
He said that his ministry has coordinated with tourismoffices in districts, cities, and provinces as well as authority bodies at eachtourism destination to prepare for tourists.
The minister further said that regional governments and tourismauthorities will need to immediately improve aspects to support security,safety, and cleanliness during the holiday period.
Uno said that his ministry is improving tourism facilitiessuch as rest areas in mudik (homecoming exodus) routes and mosque-based tourist destinationsto attract tourists.
Several tourist destinations for mudik routes have been launched. Last year, the ministrylaunched a numerous tourism villages, and this year there are several restareas and mosque-based tourist destinations, the minister added.
