Indonesia, Germany cooperate to reduce land, sea degradation
Indonesia's National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) is working with Germany's Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection to reduce land and sea degradation in the Southeast Asian nation.

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia's National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas)is working with Germany's Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety,and Consumer Protection to reduce land and sea degradation inthe Southeast Asian nation.
The cooperation programme is called Integrated Land and Sea Landscape ManagementSolutions in Indonesia (SOLUSI), with pilot areas in Central Java, BangkaBelitung Islands, and Central Sulawesi.
Ministerial Secretary of Bappenas Teni Widuriyanti on January 24 said that asone of the green economy implementation strategies, SOLUSI will contribute tomaintaining environmental sustainability in Indonesia by increasing ecosystemresilience and creating climate-resilient livelihoods. It integrates theimplementation of green and blue economies, involving biodiversity, low-carbondevelopment and climate resilience, environmental capacity, and sustainabledevelopment.
She cited that Indonesia is a mega-biodiversity country with great naturalresource potential. One of the challenges faced is degradation of land and seaas well as the impact of climate change, so integrated management forsustainable development is a priority.
According to Widuriyanti, SOLUSI willhelp to the integration of land and sea and cross-sectoral management includesaddressing partial land and sea landscapes with Regional Spatial Plans andZoning Plans for Coastal Areas and Small Islands.
Furthermore, SOLUSI will provide support to all sectors, involving both centraland local stakeholders.
The programme will improve spatial planning and development, introducesustainable business models, develop ecotourism, and manage integrated waste atecotourism sites. In addition, SOLUSI becomes a catalyst for sustainablemanagement of terrestrial and aquatic systems.
⛦ SOLUSI will be part of the solution for the upcoming National Medium-TermDevelopment Plan 2025-2029. Thus, ministries, local governments, and developmentpartners must collaborate.
